A lot of technology goes into making your cellphone work. So you would think that we would be more understanding of dropped calls and garbled conversations. Nope. Nothing gets geeks into a seething tech frenzy like poor cellphone reception… and it doesn’t help that we couldn’t resist the glossy black smoothness of the iPhone and AT&T sucks for cellphone service. Sad.

Phone China news channel was informed that the recent Sony Computer Entertainment (SCE) COO Jimuruien (Jim Ryan) in an interview with reporters that does not rule out future cooperation with Sony Ericsson launched Play Station games the possibility of mobile phones , adding that this will be a high-tech mobile phone console with integrated products. These assertions have caused a widespread concern in the outside world, if there really such a product launch, it would be very competitive.

Compared to Meizu’s native China, the US is a haven for intellectual property protection — and as far as we’re concerned, not a single tweak done to the M8’s design since its intro has ventured far enough from the iPhone to keep Apple’s sharks lawyers from circling. Nevertheless, Chinese site CNMO reports that the M8 could make its first real, actual public appearance (as opposed to the countless renderings and dummies the company has produced so far) in Sin City itself as part of the CES festivities in early January with retail availability as early as February. That fine organ the Mainichi Daily News has word on a cellphone Java application intended to help women discretely ward off the wandering hands (and, presumably, other parts) of the gropers that plague Japan’s trains.
The ‘Anti Groping’ application is from a games developer known as Takahashi and is currently in the top 10 of mobile downloads. Users who feel the unwelcome intrusion of the friendly neighborhood pervert but who don’t want to make a scene on a crowded train are encouraged to activate the Java app and thrust the phone into the face of the sad freak.

Despite China’s promise to have a 3G phone network in place by the time of the 2008 Beijing Olympics, a bluster-filled announcement made yesterday only served to underline that commercial services will not be ready in time.
The National Development and Reform Commission used a telecoms expo to attempt to reassure doubters by saying that a 3G network using the home-grown TD-SCDMA (Time Division Synchronous Code Division Multiple Access) standard would be up and running during the Olympics after all.

Starting today Nokia customers in eleven countries with compatible S60 devices can download the new suite enabling access to Windows Live Hotmail, Windows Live Messenger, Windows Live Contacts and Windows Live Spaces. Starting next year, customers who purchase compatible Nokia Series 40 handsets will also have access to these popular Windows Live services.
